Foxit Phantom

Foxit Phantom
Foxit Phantom is a PDF designing solution for small businesses, which is a direct competitor to Adobe's Acrobat Professional, but with faster creation speeds and yet most of the same PDF tools included. This is an affordable alternative with OCR capabilities that is as professional as other similar applications.

Foxit Phantom is somewhat easier to use than other PDF suites, which in part is due to its small size and tool simplicity, plus it is also faster when finalizing documents, and in form creations.

The interface has the look of Microsoft word-processing software, but with a customizable menu bar. In addition, the program has a navigation panel on its left; allowing quick access to documents via bookmarks or thumbnails as well as attachments, signatures, and layers.

Users can create PDF documents whether with simple text, images, or more complex documents such as fill-out forms with radio buttons and options. One of the program's great features is the undo history: it was redesigned and is now capable of keeping track of many changes done to a document, a great improvement since it previously could only undo a few changes.

An improvement was done to the creation tools, too: these are now more intuitive and easier to handle (e.g. the underline & strikeout tools now work in vertical layout too, not just horizontally).

Two other major changes were done: one is the search function - it has been extended to search text within thumbnail pages, comments and bookmarks. The second one and the most important feature is the OCR Text Recognition, which enables to convert scanned book pages, notes and documents to text that can be edited.
